How to get involved
Public Involvement
There will be a variety of opportunities for residents to become
involved in the CEP process and provide their input into the plan.
The first round of public meetings was held in late February, early March, 2007. At these meetings, the consultant
team provided initial information on alternative options for electricity supply and asked for ideas and feedback from residents. We also began to
solicit your general interests and concerns about electricity issues
on the islands.
A second round of public meetings was held in July,
2007. These meetings included a presentation on the technical options, the public involvement program, and an exercise to rank the attributes and bundles of electricity supply and DSM otpions.
Public events will be advertised as details are finalized. Check
this website for updates on news and events related to the CEP.
There are also ongoing opportunities for public involvement beyond
the public meetings. Interested individuals or groups can request
meetings or participate in discussions with the consultant team
in person, by telephone, by e-mail and by mail.
Input received from island residents during the development of the
CEP will be documented in the final Plan. Meeting notes and other
documents will be posted in the Reading
Room. The Working Group and consultant team will use this input
to inform recommendations and an implementation plan.
Standing Technical Committee
The consultant team has established a Standing Technical Committee comprised of island residents with an interest and background in electricity and energy.
To date, seventeen members have been confirmed. The role of this committee is to advise the consultant team
on demand reduction options, electricity supply options and implementation
strategies. The Standing Technical Committee met in person for the first time, on April 28, 2007, in Tlell. The Agenda and notes of that meeting are available in Reading Room.
