citiesplus Long term Plan for Greater Vancouver

The Sheltair Group led the development of a 100-year plan for a sustainable Greater Vancouver (citiesPLUS). Sheltair was selected as the National Team Leader for the prestigious, international award winning project. This was a two-year sustainable planning initiative focusing on Greater Vancouver. Sheltair prepared a long-term sustainability plan and helped to coordinate input from hundreds of experts, including government staff from the region and from the 21 local municipalities. A key part of the citiesPLUS process was selecting over 50 environmental, economic, and social sustainability indicators in 17 different urban systems. The Sheltair Group organized three design charrettes that brought together over 50 key professionals for three days for an integrated design exercise. The intent of the event was to explore the physical transformation of the Greater Vancouver region and two neighbourhoods over the next 100-years, based on goals and targets for sustainability. The $1.3 million project was completed over 2 years.
