The Consensus Institute is a non-profit corporation dedicated to increasing the long term sustainability and resiliency of the built environment.
The institute is dedicated to three areas of research and activity:
- The urban metabolism – tracking the pathways for energy, water and materials, as they flow from nature through the constructed environment and back to nature;
- The dynamics of urban systems – exploring ecological models for integrating and transforming urban systems at local, regional, and global scales; and
- Planning and design paradigms – developing and testing new methods and tools for integrated design, collaborative decision-making, and adaptive management.
