Energy Management and Climate Change


Recognizing the impacts posed by climate change and our limited natural resources, many cities and regions are now beginning to focus on identifying strategies to mitigate and to adapt to the our changing conditions. For more than 10 years Sheltair has been working with governments, utilities and the private sector to improve the sustainability of their energy systems. With nearly 20 completed plans across the country, we are the most experienced firm in Canada in developing community-wide energy plans (CEP).
  • Energy and Greenhouse Gas Management: helping communities develop and implement community energy plans (at the corporate and community scales) aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as well as demand side management programs. This includes:
    • Identifying and obtaining funding.
    • Determining community objectives and goals.
    • Obtaining necessary energy supply and demand data.
    • Modelling transportation demand.
    • Preparing energy and greenhouse gas baselines and forecasts.
    • Identifying demand and supply management opportunities.
    • Developing and preparing a communications and consultation strategy.
    • Implementing the action items and monitoring identified in the CEP.
  • Climate Change Adaptation Planning: helping governments translate the knowledge generated by academic institutions into actions to prepare for climate change impacts.
